The Wea Prairie Branch Library is located on South 18th Street across from Wea Ridge Elementary School. Within the cozy brick building, browsers will find thousands of books, movies, music, and magazines. But behind the branch, you will find a meandering storywalk.
The Wea Prairie storywalk is a 0.2 mile paved path that winds through the hills behind the building featuring a rotating picture book story. Now you and your little ones can enjoy the great outdoors any time during free, self-guided reading hikes! There is literacy, nature, and movement combined.
A storywalk provides a teaching moment for a child –parents, grandparents, and children can read the book together and then discuss the text, illustrations, and meaning of the monthly book. A storywalk promotes early literacy, physical activity, and family time together in nature. It’s a fun and educational family activity! Take a stroll at Wea Prairie and enjoy a children’s story along the walking path!
