The Portal: TCPL’s Technology Center
The Portal is the realization of a vision to build a flexible, technology-rich center for learning, research, training, collaboration, and content production. Visitors enjoy open space equipped with a combination of Express PCs and laptops that greatly expand public Internet-enabled access. Conveniences include a shared printer, multiple power outlets, and casual seating with pervasive wi-fi. Knowledgeable and approachable staff members with well-developed user instruction skills are always available to assist customers.
The Portal is made possible through TCPL’s Library Improvement Reserve Fund and gifts from local corporations and private donors.
A unique space for digital art creation, information and inspiration with options to create and edit video, audio, and photos. Customers can access professional-level editing software and preserve slides, photos and home movies by converting them to digital formats. Equipment to create, record, and edit original music and more are included.
Select Digital Arts resources are also available at the Klondike and Wyandotte Branch Libraries.
People of all ages and abilities may access this closed space, equipped with headphones and microphones for learning, listening, and practicing foreign languages such as French, German, and Japanese.
Adults and youth may learn together using multiple computers with age-based software and educational games. Additional options include a variety of child-friendly technologies.
